Misconception: The client can be made to act like a chicken.
Truth: Although hypnosis makes you more open to suggestion, you can't be forced to do anything. You generally remain of who you are and where you at all times.
Misconception: I can't be hypnotized.
Truth: Sure you can. You do it everyday. Have you ever daydreamed while driving? Get lost in a book or movie?
Misconception: I will get stuck in that state.
Truth: That's impossible. To maintain that state the hypnotherapist must be talking at all times. When he/she stops talking you would either fall asleep or wake up.
Misconception: The client is compelled to obey.
Truth: No! The client has complete free will.
Misconception: the client is semi-asleep or asleep.
Truth: No! the client is hyper attentive. You can smell, hear, taste better than even in the normal waking state. It feels more like daydreaming or "Losing yourself" like in a book.
